A new way to get your film out there.

About Us

What is FilmTiki?

FilmTiki is a platform that will help filmmakers find the right channels to promote and distribute their films in the most effective fashion. We are currently in the product development stage.

The FilmTiki framework is based on the analysis of comprehensive and up-to-date market and distribution data. We focus on how filmmakers can use online channels to promote and distribute their films without ignoring the traditional promotion- and distribution circles (like festivals, distributors, TV stations etc.). Our objective is to help filmmakers reach their audience.

FilmTiki will be an affordable and easy to use guide. We are developing an extensive product catalogue to meet a variety of filmmakers' needs and budgets.

How did we come up with FilmTiki?

FilmTiki is the brainchild of Iris. Many moons ago, Iris was the co-ordinator of the Fringe Film Festival in Wellington, New Zealand. Every year, there would be a range of New Zealand films screening at the Fringe that were never seen outside the limited realm of this festival. This was because the filmmakers had no means (due to lack of expertise or budget) to get their films out there. Iris thought there must be another way to get these films seen by a larger audience.

Fuelled by her passion for film, Iris combined her knowledge of the film business with her media studies researcher brain and looked deeper into the opportunities that online media harbor for filmmakers. Soon it became clear that there is a need in the film community for a tool like FilmTiki: filmmakers want to use online media, but are not quite sure how to best do this. The idea of a simple guide through the maze was born.

Who is behind FilmTiki?

The team behind FilmTiki consists of passionate creatives, researchers and business-savvy communication and marketing experts. We are going above and beyond to make this platform happen. Everyone is generously donating a big part of their time and expertise to get FilmTiki up and running.

We are also very fortunate to be supported by departure, a Viennese funding body that enables the economic utilization of innovative and creative work in Vienna with a special focus on internationally oriented projects. departure is financed by the City of Vienna with support from the European Union.
